Second Quarter

plants

Chlorophyll: is a chemical that gives plants their green color and traps light energy.

Photosynthesis: is the process in which plants use water, carbon dioxide and energy from the sun to make food.

Vascular plants: are plants that have tubelike cells in their roots, stems and leaves to carry food and water.

Nonvascular plants:are plants that dont  have tubelike cell in their stems, and leaves.

Moss: is a small, nonvascular plant that has both stems and leaves but no roots.

Sexual reproduction: is the forming of a new organism by the union of two reprocuctive cells.

Egg: reproductive part of the female.

Sperm: reproductive part of the male.

Fertilization: the joinning of the male and the female part.

Xylem: transportation of water and minerals from the root to the leave.

Pholem: transportation of the food from the leaves to all the plant.

Fern: is a vascular plant that reproduce s the spores.

Seed: is the part of the plant that contains a new, young plant and stored food.

Embryo: is an organism in its earlites stages of growth.

Conifers: is a plant produce seeds in cones.

Pollen: are the tiny grains of seed plants in which sperm develop.

Flowering plants: is a vascular plant produce seeds in flower.

Flower: is the reproductive part of the plant.
